Recognizing that climate change presents new challenges and the need to prepare and adapt, the Village has adopted a Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Plan. It was developed over the course of 2025 with input from community stakeholders, Village staff and key agencies.
The Adaptation Plan presents strategies and methods for the community to adapt to these increased hazards and become more resilient. These recommendations were based on a Vulnerability Assessment that identified Nyack’s community assets - its people, infrastructure, ecosystems, economy, and services - and the potential impacts to these assets caused by hazards that are of increasing concern due to climate change.
