On Friday, October 20, 2023, at 2 PM, at Nyack Village Hall, 9 N Broadway, Nyack NY 10960, there will be an unveiling of a commemorative street sign renaming Lydecker Street for two Nyack Police Officers killed in the line of duty on October 20, 1981.

Lydecker Street will henceforth also be known as “P.O. Brown & Sgt. O’Grady Street”. This event takes place shortly before the annual ceremony at the intersection of Rte 59 and Mountainview Rd at the entrance to the NYS Thruway scheduled for 4pm.

Chief Robert Van Cura, former South Nyack Police Chief and current Rockland County Undersherif, will lead the ceremony. The public is welcome to join the families of slain officers and others in remembering this tragic event.

Expect traffic delays in the area during these two events as roads will be closed temporarily.
