Hi all, I hope everyone had a glorious weekend, with a beautiful day on Sunday for Mother’s Day, following an incredible Saturday that featured a variety of wonderful Nyack events. And the downtown fun continues this week! First, the Garden Club of Nyack is having its annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 17th from 10AM-2PM at the Depew House behind Nyack Library. They’ll be raising money for a wonderful cause – People to People, to help feed Rockland’s hungry. They’ll have all sorts of plants, baked goods, and vendors. Second, it’s our second street fair of the season -- Nyack’s Famous Street Fair this Sunday, May 18th, from 10AM-6PM on the downtown streets. A couple of things in no particular order. 1. Thanks to Everyone Who Made Saturday Special I wanted to express my thanks to everyone who put together that slate of events that made Saturday such a special day, including: - Everyone at the Historical Society of the Nyacks for an amazing “Great Nyack House Tour”.
- Our Nyack2030 climate gurus Steve Cea and Sustainability Coordinator Marcy Denker on a special “Big Plug In EV Event”.
- Kelly Colquitt, Michael Jameson, and the team that put on the gorgeous Nyack Flower Market (every other Saturday, so the next one is Saturday, May 24).
- The members of Indivisible Rockland who held a late-scheduled rally on the water at Memorial Park.
- The staff at Grace Episcopal, who put on their annual plant sale at the church.
- And, last but not least – to Brianne Higgins, David Budway, and everyone at Maureen’s Jazz Cellar for the huge turnout for the “Dancing in the Street” concert on Broadway.
It was a Saturday to remember in Nyack! 2. Thanks to Everyone Who Came out to the LPC Meeting
Also, my thanks to everyone who came out last Tuesday for the inaugural Local Planning Committee meeting to start discussing the process of implementing our $4.5M NY Forward Grant. We had a nice turnout, with an engaged group of residents who asked thoughtful and smart questions. Our next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 11, 5:30PM, so put it in your calendars if you want to be part of the process. And if you missed the meeting and are curious about it, just go to our Youtube channel to watch the replay at www.nyack.link/youtube. 3. Get Your Events in for the First Summer Events Guide
A reminder that we are putting together a “Summer Event Guide” to help promote our local businesses. We are looking for as many events as we can find, so if you want your event included please go here to provide information about any events you’d like us to promote. And if you want more information on the project here’s a memo describing it. Have a great week, everyone
