Hi all,

We’re sending this week’s newsletter out a little early to make sure you get all the info for the Memorial Day events on Monday morning. The American Legions Memorial Day Parade on Monday morning starts at 11 AM, with a route stating at Main St and Franklin St, running east on Main, south on Broadway, west on Depew Ave into Memorial Park. Please note the streets will be closed for the parade, but more importantly take some time on Monday morning to line up along the route, enjoy the parade, and honor our service members.

Also, at 11:30 AM, the Buffalo Soldiers of Rockland County, Nyack NAACP and the Spring Valley NAACP are holding a service at the Mt. Moor Cemetary on Palisades Center Drive. This event will feature a keynote from Susan Branam, the Director of Rockland County Veteran's Service Agency.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend and a meaningful day on Monday to remember and celebrate the lives of those gave all in service to this country.

Also, I wanted to let you know that we have a couple of fun events coming up next Sunday, June 1, so I wanted to give you the heads-up now:

🎶 ArtsRock EcoTones Concerts at River Hook Preserve

This is not technically in Nyack, of course, but our friends in Upper Nyack are hosting a wonderful concert put on by ArtsRock next Sunday, June 1, from 2 PM–5 PM at their River Hook Preserve (626 North Broadway).

Musicians will perform music directly inspired by the Preserve’s trees, including:

  • The professional EcoTones Ensemble
  • Nyack High School Chamber Orchestra
  • Nyack vocal ensemble Collective Accord

You can get “pay what you wish” tickets starting at a $10 donation. More info at artsrock.org.

🍽️ Community Cooking at the Nyack Center

The Nyack Center is holding its 21st Annual Community Cooking on Sunday from 5 PM–7 PM, featuring more than 50 amateur chefs showing off their best recipes and cooking skills at stalls throughout the Center.

This is always a fun event with lots of great food, so come hungry!

🌟 Rising Stars Concert at the Angel

Also on Sunday, the Angel will host the Rockland Symphony Orchestra’s Rising Stars Concert from 4 PM–5:30 PM (right before the Community Cooking event!). The concert features the winners of the RCMTG concerto competition—“the next big stars in the music industry.”

Because of how the events are timed, you can actually go to all three events. Quite a Sunday!

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend, and then a wonderful week.
