🗑 Trash Collection
Trash is collected every Monday and Thursday. Please have trash cans (not to exceed 50 pounds) at the curb by 6am.
🚪🛏️ Bulk Items
Bulk Items are picked up on the "First Friday of the Month". Acceptable items include: furniture, household items, appliances (without freon). Mattresses that are contaminated must be wrapped in plastic and sealed. Household hazardous waste (paint, chemicals, computers, electronics, etc. must be brought to the Rockland County Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Pomona or stores which accept them.
Paper and cardboard are collected every Thursday and go in the blue rectangular recycling bins. Please have paper and cardboard bins at the curb by 6am and placed a few feet away from trash cans if possible. If you are using regular trash cans for recycling materials, please contact the DPW 845-358-3552 to arrange for large stickers to identify those cans as recycling. Paper and cardboard should never be in plastic bags.
Recyclable containers such as cans, bottles, and cartons are collected every Thursday and go in the round green recycling bins. Please have recyclable container bins at the curb by 6am and placed a few feet away from trash cans if possible. Clothing still in good condition can be brought to a local secondhand store. Clothing and other textiles such as linens, towels, shoes, sneakers, towels, and curtains can be donated. Click here to learn more about textile waste reduction and recycling.
Rechargeable lithium batteries are hazardous and can cause fires. They do not go in the trash. Please bring them to any store which sells them, or the Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
Electronics do not go in the trash. Please bring electronics such as computers, phones, display screens, and televisions to the Rockland County Hazardous Household Waste facility in Pomona. Click here for more info.
Unused medications should not be flushed or put in the trash because they can be toxic and harmful to waterways and the soil. Unused medications can be brought to a pharmacy which accepts them, most police departments, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, the Hazardous and Household Waste Facility (click here for a schedule), or a drug take-back event.
Syringes and needles do not go in the trash. They should be dropped-off at a hospital or a syringes and needles collection event. Click here for info on Rockland County’s syringes and needles collection events.
Leftover paint such as house paint, primers, stains, deck and concrete sealers, and clear finishes should be brought to stores which sell them or the Household Hazardous Waste facility.
