Hoppy, Nyack’s Free Electric Shuttle, Launches October 30
The Village of Nyack is launching Hoppy, a new free, on-demand electric shuttle, on Friday, October 30. The service makes it easier to get around the Village, shop downtown, connect with public transportation, and travel between the waterfront and local destinations.
Launch Weekend Hours
Beginning the first week of November 2026, regular service will run Thursday through Sunday, with Thursday hours of 11 AM–2 PM to serve the downtown Farmers’ Market. Additional regular hours will be announced.
How to Ride Hoppy
The six-passenger GEM electric vehicle (five passengers plus the driver) was purchased with a $50,000 grant from Rockland County. Hoppy offers a convenient, zero-emission way to reach local businesses, the Farmers’ and Flower Markets, bus stops, and the Marina parking lot.
“Hoppy provides convenient, hyper-local transportation for residents and visitors, and we’re especially pleased to help residents reach their polling places on Election Day,” said Mayor Joe Rand.
Named in honor of Nyack’s famous resident, painter Edward Hopper, Hoppy is also a new way to “hop” around the Village while supporting local businesses and improving access to downtown destinations.
Here are 10 things you need to know about the new Hoppy Shuttle:

Our Hoppy driver is Mr. JP Schutz, the Village Historian and a wonderful ambassador to the Village. This is a learning experience for all of us, so please bear with us as we figure out the most efficient and helpful way to run this program.
Thank you to Rockland County and the Village of Nyack Board of Trustees, plus two inaugural advertisers, for making this project possible. Very soon, the Hoppy will have its “wrap” of customized imagery installed.
